New World Montessori Nursery has been established
since January 1997, and maintains high standards in
Early Years Education, giving a strong foundation
for later years.
The aim of New World Montessori is to prepare the child
for entrance to state Primary and private Preparatory
schools. The school maintains very close relationships
with the parents. The
school premises at the Brentham Club are situated within
a private Members only club, offering sport
and social activities to members of the Community, in
a secure and secluded haven. The club has nine tennis
courts, a golf course and a cricket field, to which
the school has access. Saint Barnabas Millennium Church
Hall is an affiliated Nursery offering full day provision,
with lunch on the premises. The church hall has its
own secluded garden and nature area.
New World Montessori encourages the child to participate
in a wide curriculum in a happy creative, stimulating
atmosphere provided by a combination of Montessori
methods and ideals and traditional Nursery activities
The Montessori philosophy is founded upon the childs
natural curiosity and love of learning, with all the
materials required for learning within his/her reach
and easily accessible.
The child attempts new goals at his own pace, and
is always treated as an individual.
The Montessori curriculum
consists of five main subjects.
- PRACTICAL
LIFE EXERCISES - to encourage care of the environment,
to promote independence in the child
- SENSORIAL
- use of the five senses, touch, taste, sight, sound
and smell.
- LANGUAGE
- reading programmes, with phonetic games, sandpaper
letters and the moveable alphabet.
- MATHS
- sandpaper numerals, spindles for counting, N.W.M.
number mats, etc.
- CULTURAL
MATERIALS - multicultural projects, science and
geography. Back
