"Maria Montessori was born in Italy in 1870 and began
her professional life as a Doctor of Medicine. She
then studied Education, Philosophy, Psychology and
Anthropology. Maria Montessori's unique approach to
the teaching of young children brought her world acclaim"
The Nursery uses materials designed by Maria Montessori
along with a variety of other educational aids. 
A carefully prepared environment (everything placed
at the childs eye level) offers the opportunity for
the child to develop his own natural love of learning,
through games, songs. music and movement, drama, nature
studies, science, reading, crafts, maths, and Practical
Life Skills.
Extra curricular activities include French, which
is taught twice a week. This is totally oral with
children being encouraged to participate in songs
and games, and follows project themes each term i.e
Spring term may be COLOURS - Children will start to
learn vocabulary - BLEAU, ROUGE, VERT, JAUNE, etc.

When the child starts at 2 years old, he/she will
be settled into a routine gently, at his/her own pace.
Social skills will be encouraged foremost and practical
life exercises will be practised, to promote independence
and self esteem.
These exercises include; FOLDING A NAPKIN, DRESSING
FRAMES, -Buttons, zippers, laces, and buckles etc.
POURING, SOCK PAIRING, LAYING THE TABLE, MOPPING and
SWEEPING.
